Overseas RV travel offers a rare opportunity to experience some of the world's most remarkable destinations from a perspective few travelers ever get to enjoy.

Traveling internationally by RV allows you to move at a comfortable pace, staying connected to the scenery, communities, and destinations that define each region.

Whether you're watching the sun set over a remote desert, following a winding coastal route, crossing glacier-carved valleys, or spotting wildlife in its natural habitat, overseas RV travel offers a perspective that's difficult to find any other way.

What Overseas RV Travel is Really Like

The difference is noticeable the moment you arrive.

The scenery is unfamiliar in all the right ways. Roads lead to places you've only seen in photographs. Daily life becomes part of the journey, whether you're browsing a local market, wandering a centuries-old town, or waking up to a completely new view outside your RV.

One day you're crossing Australia's red interior, another finds you navigating New Zealand's alpine roads, standing beside a waterfall in Scandinavia, or watching wildlife move across the African horizon.

Even simple moments stay with you, because every day brings something unexpected.

Why Overseas Travel Pairs So Well With RV Adventures

Some vacations focus on getting somewhere. Overseas RV travel makes every stage of the journey worthwhile.

Spectacular scenery, memorable drives, welcoming campgrounds, and authentic cultural encounters combine to create an immersive travel experience from beginning to end.

International route planning

Scenic Drives are a Highlight, Not Just Transportation

International routes deliver a driving experience unlike anything most North American travelers are used to. Rather than bypassing the scenery, many routes travel directly through the landscapes that make these destinations famous.

RV Travel Brings You Closer to the Places You Visit

Many overseas campgrounds are located near coastlines, national parks, lakes, and scenic overlooks. Rather than simply passing through, RV travel allows you to spend more time surrounded by the places you've come to see.

The Magic of Exploring Overseas Destinations by RV

Overseas RV travel has a way of expanding your perspective.

It's waking up in a new country knowing the day ahead will bring something completely different.

It's watching the scenery change mile by mile.

It's parking for the night beside views you've only seen in magazines, documentaries, or travel guides.

It's discovering local cuisine, navigating unfamiliar roads, and connecting with cultures that broaden your understanding of the world.

And somewhere along the way, what once felt intimidating becomes second nature.

Overseas RV Travel Tips & FAQs

Planning an overseas RV trip involves more logistics than domestic travel, but that’s also what makes it such an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re traveling on your own or joining a guided overseas RV tour, these tips can help you feel more confident and prepared for the journey ahead.

Is overseas RV travel difficult?

Overseas RV travel involves more planning than a typical U.S. RV trip, especially with driving rules, customs, and international logistics. But for many travelers, that’s also part of what makes the experience so exciting. With the right pacing and support, overseas RV travel becomes surprisingly comfortable and incredibly rewarding.

Do I need a special license to drive an RV overseas?

Some destinations may require an International Driving Permit (IDP) in addition to your standard driver’s license. Requirements vary by country, so many travelers confirm documentation needs well in advance. Having these details arranged ahead of time makes international travel much smoother.

What is it like driving an RV in Australia and New Zealand?

Driving in Australia and New Zealand is scenic, but road systems can feel different from the U.S. In some areas, roads may be narrower, and in Australia and New Zealand, travelers drive on the left side. Most RVers adjust quickly and find the driving experience becomes one of the highlights of the trip.

What is it like RVing through Scandinavia?

Scandinavia offers some of the most beautiful and well-maintained roads in the world. The driving is scenic, campgrounds are often excellent, and the long summer daylight makes travel days feel easy and enjoyable. Many travelers love Scandinavia for its peaceful atmosphere, fjord scenery, and cultural experiences along the route.

What is it like RVing through South Africa?

South Africa offers a unique blend of scenic landscapes, cultural experiences, and wildlife encounters. Many travelers describe it as one of the most unforgettable RV destinations in the world. With the right planning and guided structure, South Africa becomes an incredible way to experience Africa with comfort and confidence.

What should I pack for an overseas RV trip?

Packing depends on the region, but layers are always essential. Weather can change quickly, especially in New Zealand and Scandinavia. Many experienced travelers also bring Comfortable walking shoes, Rain gear and wind protection, Travel adapters and charging equipment, Binoculars and cameras, Daypacks for excursions, Basic medications and personal essentials. For many travelers, packing smart makes international RV travel feel far more comfortable.

Will I have cell service and internet overseas?

Coverage varies by region. Major cities often have strong service, while remote areas may have limited connectivity. Many travelers purchase international phone plans or local SIM cards, and most download offline maps ahead of time for added confidence.

How far in advance should I book an overseas RV tour?

Overseas RV tours often require more advance planning due to limited tour availability, seasonal travel windows, and international logistics. Most travelers begin planning two to three years in advance, with a year ahead often considered the minimum for the best selection of departure dates.

Do you offer any overseas trips that are not RV-based?

Yes. In addition to international RV tours, we also offer a guided non-RV tour in Vietnam, designed for travelers who want an immersive overseas experience without traveling by motorcoach or RV.

What Travelers Remember Most

These are the kinds of memories that keep Overseas at the top of the list.

Seeing the Outback was a bucket list item for us and the tour did an excellent job of providing a great experience.

Garrit W.

Real Outback

Our African experience was quite different than what we expected. The topography was so diverse: coastal regions like California and big skies like Montana. We enjoyed the people, animals, and diverse countries. As new RVers, we know that we would have never seen as much as we did without experiencing it in an RV.

We covered an incredible amount of both islands of New Zealand. Seeing such varied & beautiful scenery made this tour great.
